No worries snowballs! :D I listen to the radio a lot, so it suits me.

Del - I simply don't loan books to people any more.

One thing I miss about the UK is decent radio, the Swedes play tracks to death. Only country I've been to with worse radio than Sweden is Norway, they are in a class of their own.

Since some of you have this guy in your bookshelves....

After a one-year engagement, writer Neil Gaiman and musician Amanda Palmer got married last night, then broke the news today via their respective Twitter accounts.

Gaiman proposed to Palmer on New Year’s Day 2010, and for Gaiman’s 50th birthday this past November, the couple had a mock wedding ceremony in New Orleans [Read: Still Life With Wedding Party]. Now the couple made it official in a ceremony held in writer Ayelet Waldman‘s parlor with Palmer wearing the same wedding dress she used as a street performer for over 5 years. The bride tweeted that the dress “was shredded…but it still worked.” [...]

Tony, my wife would freak out by the messy way your books are displayed :)

My father's close to his 10,000th(!) book by now and he's acually read about 95% of it I'd wager. Just about every wall in the house is covered by bookshelves, often doubly-layered with small paperbacks. It's a lot of pulp crime/thriller, loads of sci-fi and fantasy, quite some bridge theory. Nature, art and history take up a lot of room too. He's got Agatha Christie, Wodehouse, and there's the odd Nancy Friday work that I'm sure he didn't notice us sneaking out of their place during puberty

My parents are close to their 70s now, they'll be doomed to live in that house forever because it would collapse if they took the books out :)
The books are insured (no idea for what amount) and the bank asked for a list of them once. My dad's always kept a database record on the computer of them, so her printed it out at work - took him about a week on those old fashioned matrix printers, using chain stationery. The list was a book on itself. So he took it to the bank where they kindly told them that a floppy would have been fine :)

 I know, but in my defence, the room most of my books are stored in is being used as storage for a friend of mine, who asked me to store her artwork for a few weeks - a few years ago. I don't mind, but it's kind of difficult to get into the room to do anything with the books.

This is what the room looks like.

It's this sort of thing that leads to people finding millions of pounds worth of artwork in their attics! Otherwise it leads to friends filling your house with junk
What's up with this glass? Excuse me? Excuse me? This is my glass? I don't think so. My glass was full! And it was a bigger glass!
