Thank you all for the great suggestions. Although it's not Discworld related I was wondering about a bad pune (or play on words) as a name: "Plan C"
Is that idea as bad as I suspect?

Plan C? Seems like as good a name as any suggested here. Excuse me for being stupid, but I don't get the pune. Is it C=sea? Or altogether it spells "planc" as in "walk the plank", or is it some recent catchphrase that living in Japan I don't get? :?

Tiz your boat, Unruly, you can call it what you like. :D
Beware what you do call it though, as neighbours here called their boat Summer Rain & it rained all that Summer.
Best wishes,

Interesting theory Tiffany.

If your theory works, he should call it something like "World Peace", or "No contra-flows on a bank holiday", or "Please God let me win the lottery so I can buy a bigger and better boat"

Right first time, poohbcarrot! Yes, I'm afraid it's as lame as that.

Thanks for the warning Tiffany! A couple of friends have suggested "Summer Lightning" as I'm known to be partial to the odd drop of that ale, so maybe I should strike that from the shortlist.

Um, I thought you were a hardened Atheist, therefore you don't believe in God, therefore you won't win (I'm trying to make sense today, but it isn't working!) - perhaps you can ask Darwin to help you win the lottery?

Plan C hmm, as Tiff said, it's your boat call it what you will. I'd call a boat Miss Piggy, as in Piggy Bank as I plan to be off shore a lot and try not to run in to any banks along the way... it made sense in my head anyway.

A. I am
B. I don't
C. I won't

But it's not my boat.
If somebody asked me for a name for a church I might say "St Kevin's" but it doesn't mean I'd ever go.

That's not so much lame as legless. Still, it's your boat.

What will you say when people ask you what happened to "Plan A" and "Plan B"?

If I had a boat I'd call it the "Pelican't"

Hmm. Not sure. Perhaps I'll say that as I can't abide failure there were no plans A and B, and that I've settled for C.

Totally unrelated to DW, but I've always liked "Getafix" as a name for a boat. Never seen it on the high seas, though. Feel free as I'm many years and £s away from a proper yacht. :)

"Getafix"?

Sounds like either a speed-dial drug dealer or a Japanese shoe repairer
