Twurp’s Peerage ~ Forum Peeps Bio-pics section

We have one of these on another forum I’m on and they can be quite funny and revealing…

We have many ways of getting to know each other - but this one’s for those who have a deep-seated need to tell the world exactly how wonderful they are – and for the nosey parkers who want in-depth and unexpurgated vital stats…

Where possible feel free to post some piccies (or ask Tonyblack or Jason nicely and they’ll do it for you ’cos they’re good like that) with the info you put up (although if you’re under 13 (gods I wish I was!) I think there’s some restriction on putting pictures of yourself on the web
So if you are under 13 just do the writing bits and leave the mugshots off.

How it works
1. Copy and paste the following survey into your post and just go through answering whichever questions you want to (delete the ones you don’t want to answer as you like). If you’re fussy on presentation feel free to add pretty colours or highlighting too – see if I care!
2. Post a picture(s) of you if you like. A recent one would be great, but you don’t have to have any – we’ll just assume that they’re really bad or exposes you to some form of blackmail…
3. Feel free to add any other things that you think we should know or make up some more questions if you want (will add those onto this template as we go if they’re interesting!)

Discworld and Pterry favourites list (you can have more than 1 if you want!)
Book: Small Gods; Wyrd Sisters; Witches Abroad; Moving Pictures
Favourite passage: Can’t think – most of them!
Character: Gaspode; Vetinari; Granny Weatherwax; Vimes; (lust after - the human Greebo)
Song: The Wizards Staff (The hedgehog can’t be buggered at all is too long for me)
Pterry Quote: Dunno – rain check please
Quote from a book: Where we first meet Cohen and something about the haemorrhoid ring on the saddle – will get it later…
Place in the books: Hmmm – I like the Ramtops mostly I think

Your personal favourites (you can have more than 1 if you want!)
Colour: Blue-greens/Purples
Food: chocolate (European quality!); Italian; Seafood; clotted cream and honeycomb ice cream
Beverage/Tipple: Hot chocolate; Black tea (Lapsang; Darjeeling & Assam especially); Gin & T; Voddie & T; fruity red wines; Margaritas with salt frosting
Flower: Not too keen TBH - not in the house anyway; for smell Honeysuckle Freesias, Lily of the Valley & Bluebells; to look at Bluebells in the woods
Season: Autumn - maybe. Not too hot anyway and nice colours on the trees
Book/Author: The one I'm reading mostly. Lord of the Rings is my all-time favourite though so Tolkien; anything by Terry Pratchett; The Saga of the Exiles and Intervention/Galactic Milieu Trilogy by Julian May
Movie: of all time Some Like It Hot
Actor or Actress: *whimpers* Alan Rickman - then in no particular order Keanu Reeves; Johnny Depp; Richard E. Grant; Mel Gibson (pre the Passion) - Actresses: Helen Mirren; Geraldine James; Meryl Streep and Julie Walters - quite like Michelle Pfeiffer’s work too
TV Show: Ai! I don’t watch too much these days TBH. Those I can be bothered to watch are - Doctor Who; Corrie & Emmerdale but really mostly comedies - Monty Python; Fawlty Towers; Frasier; The Simpsons; Family Guy; Malcolm in the middle The Fast Show; Dead Ringers; Little Britain - anything with Jo Brand
DVD or Video (Blue Ray – whatever): Oh hell! LotR Trilogy; Some Like It Hot; Pride & Prejudice (BBC 1990s version with Colin Firth)
CD: Erm... compilations I suppose although I like Queen; Thin Lizzy and David Bowie - a lot! Mostly classical or ambient stuff these days – I like the Pure Moods type collections or Classic FM discs
Singer/Band: Ditto
Song: *Homer scream* Bohemian Rhapsody I suppose just because it was so groundbreaking and made people take pop/rock seriously
Fast Food Restaurant: I try not to as it's just rubbish isn't it? Chain restaurant would be Red Lobster though - love seafood, but fast it isn't...
Board Game: I try not to... Trivial Pursuit I suppose - at least you have to use your brain more… I have a lovely LotR Monopoly set but that’s a really boring game (whatever version you have) unless you play it properly and then it’s too long and so I get bored…
Computer Game: No. No. No. Hate them Self-written RPG only
Musical Instrument: I used to play piano as a kid - I like most really but harps and flutes are nice - and the saxophone is very... yeah!
Cologne or Perfume: Issey Miyake ~ L'eau d’Issey; Chrisian Dior ~ Dune; for blokes – Fahrenheit is nice and I used to like Aramis too.
Things to do at the Weekend: Sleep; read and write on the forums - with a beer and some gin maybe - and chocolate
Vacation Location: Not anywhere baking hot unless it's seriously interesting and has reliable air-con... Norway; Namibia (very, very interesting so I can waive the air-con); Austria but somewhere really quiet and sleepy
Word or Phrase: time for bed

Favorite quote: Fly you fools! (Gandalf); Fly my Pretties! (Wicked Witch of the West); I'm a girl! I'm a girl! I'm a girl! (Jack Lemmon in the sleeping compartment scene SLIH)

Your Profile/Adopted Character Info
Name and nickname: Jan Van Quirm
Joined the forum on: Look to the left margin
Favorite posting place on the Forum: Broken Drum mostly
Why did you choose that name/character?: Well Leonard of Quirm is a v. interesting, nutty-genius, clever, well-meaning chap who draws a bit as well - and one of my favourite Renaissance artists (besides Leo) is Jan Van Eyck – so I put bits together
What made you register on this forum?: I was looking for ‘what’s out there’ for the Discworld’ in the way of forums/website communities/RPGs – saw this place, thought it was v. friendly and lively and joined on a whim basically

Tell us your ‘what if’s’
If you could be anyone/thing in one of the novels who/what would you be?: Hmmm – hard one. Possibly Gaspode as he kind of does what he likes, is sort of looked up to by his friends and (for a dog) Foul old Ron has to be a great companion. Plus he’s very good at moaning and being imposed upon so he’s a bit like me I suppose?
If it was someone more ‘glam’ or influential then possibly Vetinari as he’s pretty cool and lethally efficient…

If you lived in Ankh-Morpork which trade/guild would you want to join?: Assassins – I have a violent streak somewhere
If you could go on a date with a character who would it be?: Hmmm – possibly Death as I like curry and a guy who can hold his liquor. But really the human Greebo of course
If you were filling in for Death, whose soul would you most like to take – and why? Mrs. Cake perhaps – she knows far too much but is far too woolly!

Anything else you'd like to share with us? Nope!

Thanks Tony - that's why I was so quiet for a bit last week
Rowley didn't suffer too much but even though it wasn't exactly unexpected as he was quite an old dog it still hit us like a ton of bricks, which is why we had to get another Springer so quickly.

Toby's a very sweet hulking great 14 month old and seems to be like a much younger and faster version of Rowls - fingers crossed we've found ourselves another merry little friend but Rowley will always be my No. 1 pup :)

Great stuff chaps - keep 'em coming! :D

Tiff - tell that to my housemate  They've just come back soaked through from morning walkies and apparently it's "send the little b*stard back" time - because he was let off the lead and took 20 mins to come back...

He (housemate) is suffering (that is I'm suffering too) from manflu which he's had since before Xmas and won't go to the docs *fumes*. He is about to find out that it's go to the doctor, get better and find some patience with the lovely little chap or say goodbye to me and the dog now  :x
