I had a Dutch and a Finnish friend over a few years ago and we shared a cottage in Wincanton. I took a box of crackers with me. :D

Edit to add - I love the way the Dutch start their celebrations with the arrival of Sinterklass in November and then exchanges of gifts early in December (including huge chcoolate letters). I was in Maastricht one year when it all started.

The Dutch party at the drop of a hat. :lol:

Christmas movies and movies at christmas differ. Sadly they show some awful films every year in Ireland such as Darby O' Gill and the Little People.

Is was so glad that 20th century Fox let them put that on the Die Hrd 4.0 DVD - including an interview with the band!

Well they came out every Christmas for 3 years, and obviously I would rewatch the previous one before the new one, then I just carried on the tradition once they had stopped. I usually start watching them while I am making my paper chains. :D

Sure, why not? It's got lots of elves and people in long white beards, it's got giant trees, greedy childlike creatures, and at the end a savior comes to save the planet from evil, helped by a couple of little wise men with a gift of gold for the fire. And, like Christmas, it takes weeks and weeks and weeks of anticipation before it arrives, and when it's there, a letdown inevitably occurs.
