Mint Cracknel was a two piece chocolate covered bar with brittle shards of green mint flavoured filling in the centre. By those who remember them best a mint cracknel bar is often compared to be like eating shards of broken glass... although I suspect it was actually slightly more enjoyable than this, given their enthusiasm!
Mint Cracknel was made by John Macintoshes and Son of Halifax West Yorkshire. Mint Cracknel developed into a bar, after making its debut as a type of Quality Street.
Mint Cracknel wasn't the only cracknel bar in the range either. They also made Orange Cracknell and Coffee Cracknell.
Sadly the cracknel bars are no more, and I suspect in our health and safety conscious era are unlikely to make a come back, especially given that you could cut your tongue on one.

Gimme nint cracknell and I don't care.
Gimme mint cracknell and I don't care.
It'll chase those blues away"
