My 'adopted-daughter/lodger' is one of those crafty people who is never without a string of projects; music/sculpting/knitting/jewellrey-making/de-ya-de-ya-de-yada...
She's best part through making her own chess set of Lancre v A-M and has another planned. If I can get her to sort out the technicalities I'll post a photo. At the moment she's been side-tracked into designing a turtle-shaped chessboard.
That set is amazingly detailed; it just makes me go *squee* inside.
The pieces don't look like your traditional chessmen, with double bishops and knight and rooks...I bet you could reorganise the lineup and no one would care/know.
The rumour spread through the city like: ______.
C) Venereal disease
D) A disco of pain
Well Greebo is the rook, just in two different poses. Rincewind is the knigth (good choice bearing in mind the peices ability to make strange moves in and out of trouble) again in two different poses. The problem comes with the bishops which are Nanny Ogg and Magrat. The Magrat figure is too small which breaks the normal pattern of the peices getting taller towards the middle. Death and Granny Weatherwax seem OK for King and Queen and the luggage makes a good pawn. The characters were based on the existing Clarecraft figures so the Patrician couldn't be the King as they only had a model of him seated which wouldn't have worked.
it is a great looking set !! I found its approximate cost on an european site which i cant seem to find now they had a list of clarecraft images i think the chess pieces alone were 299 euros wish i could remember the site
making your own chess set !!! hmm!! i fancy getting some clay
And in Heather's case, there were sometimes Third Thoughts and Fourth Thoughts, although these were quite difficult to manage and sometimes led her to walk into doors
