TWILIGHT !!!! to be honest I thought lets buy the book before the films come out due to all the hype guess what it remains unread on my bookshelf[carboot next time]
bought the film I was so disappointed nothing of any interest appears in it.
I have always liked the sparkle-ires since an interview with a vampire and there is certainly an appeal for some gorgeous blood sucker to sweep me off my feet thinking eric northman in true blood yum-yum

The 3rd one was quite good for action scenes with the Werewolves and Vamps.

Girlfriend (a teacher) read these to have an idea of what the Kids are on about and was shocked by the message the book sends to young girls of obsession, bullying , and mentally abusive partners. The need for the central charachter to change to suit a crush and the pointlessness of life without him.
The whole shining Knight fantasy has morphed into something dangerous and bland.

Sharlene recently got one of the Sookie Stackhouse books by Charlaine Harris from the library. Sharlene loves mystery books and has read Harris's mystery novels (I think she's actually met her when she had her book store and Harris was doing a signing) and she's heard the vampire books were 'fun' - so she's in the process of reading it.

But it struck me that all these vampire books are far more to do with a sort of modern fantasy genre than horror or romance. The vampires and werewolves are supernatural in much the same way that elves and dwarfs are. Mixing that with contemporary settings makes for pure escapism I imagine.

Only the first couple of episodes were A BIT SEXUALLY EXTREME !!
But it has died down a lot which is a shame really, There is a further episode I think end of series 2 when sookie walks in on eric and a little of near homosexual encounters in series 3.
