Hi all. My first posting here. I expect That Sir Terry gets all sorts of requests and ideas thrown his way. So here is another for consideration that I've been meaning to request for a long time.

Please could you consider a Discworld book about the general topic of a health service. I'm sure you could come up with plenty of better ideas but here are a few from one who actually works in the madhouse that is the NHS

There would just have to be a Vampire in charge of the blood transfusion service.

CMOT Dibbler could be the centre of a food poisoning epidemic.

Igors from "abroad" would have to be drafted in to undercut (joke) the local surgeons. The accident unit would be having nightwatchmen in at alarmingly regular intervals after differences of opinion with the locals.

Golems would need to be regrouted perhaps.
Dwarves would be angry about under representation on the health board

The witches would inevitably run the midwifery service.

It could also provide some publicity for Altzheimers if one of the Wizards became even more forgetful/disorganised.

And my favourite character could be very busy indeed.
OH YES VERY BUSY.

Indeed if there are enough further contributions to this thread and they were all stored at the Unseen University the book would probably write itself

I think that's a great idea. I'm pretty sure there's a mention in one of the books about some Igors working (or setting up) a free hospital.

I dread to think of the equivalent of the National Blood Transfusion Service.

The X-Ray machine would have to be essentially the same as a camera but containing an Imp with really REALLY good eyesight

And Scumble as an Anesthetic (or you could use a pair of Nobbys socks in an emergency)
