Twilight books, why?

Yeah. I was forced at knifepoint to read one particular exatract. *retchings*

My wife diod read these since she liked the Sookie Stackhouse/ Souther Vampire/ Ture Blood series and she said that they were a total rip off of the above mentioned books.

Also the author is Mormon which Kim used to be and that deifinately influenced the ending of the book, when everyone should have ended in misery and heartbreak it all was happy fmialy ending. Too Moronish--- oops meant MORMON-ish ending.

I read the first one to see what the hype was about and I do agree with Kim, my wife. I total rip off. In the SS/ SV/ TB books Sookie is a telepath that can read minds but finds that she can't read vampire minds which draws her into the Vamp world, where in the TW books the 'Shiny Ones' ,which are NOT Vamps in any shape or form, can read everyone elses minds but the tragic teenage girl's which draws her into the Shiny Ones world of so called Vamps, Werewolves and what not.

All they are are a mirror image of Charlene Harris' books made to look like something new. Cop out is what I call it.

I put the TW books on the same shelf as J. K. Rowling Harry Potter books (which I am ashamed to say that I did like those enough to see the movies and have pre-purchased the Lego Wii game ).

(for those who don't know. He is the protagonist in the manga series "Fullmetal Alchemist")
And on the back.

I have read all the books(sauce bottle, cornflake packet reader too) and honestly I find them worrying. IMHO they propose that girls should be passive. When Edward and whoever (can't even remember her name she is such a nonentity) do marry, the sex is portrayed as violent and that is supposed to be okay. She gets attacked, injured, threatened and that is supposed to be okay and suffers horrific pain when she is changed into a vampire (the point is made that she is somehow paralysed which should make the process painless but doesn't) and that is supposed to be okay.

Honestly I just don't think its healthy stuff for young girls or boys either for that matter.
