A couple of books I'd recommend that you should read are by Rob Grant (one half of the original Red Dwarf creators, the other being Doug Naylor)

I also recommend the Red Dwarf books too. Even if you have watched the episodes the books are so much funnier and darker.

All extremely funny and very well written.

I think they write their best stuff (Red Dwarf) as a team. I loved the first two books written together. The Last Human and Backwards were written individually by each writer and I think they lose something. :?

Got Colony and Incompetnce which i think are both not too bad.
Incompetence was really funny the first time I read it but not as good the second time round

The jointly written Dwarf books and wonderful.

The individual stuff...not so.
I found Colony to be a real drag to finish.
