Any chance of posting photos of your guinea pigs aichtay? We used to have them as pets when we were kids.
Unfortunately what Chris says is true - they do eat them in South America in much the same way that we might eat rabbits here (not me, I'm veggie).
There was a TV series many years ago called Great Railway Journeys where the presenter stopped at a cafe in the Peruvian Alps and there were guinea pigs running around the floor for customers to pick which one they wanted to eat.
