With Great Pleasure

Postby Philippa » Sat Dec 27, 2008 8:22 am

I caught the middle of the programme twice, once on Christmas Day, once on Boxing Day but am now listening to the whole thing via BBC iplayer. http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b00g3fg2/With_Great_Pleasure_With_Great_Pleasure_at_Christmas/ which includes a list of the favourite books. I know some of you were lucky enough to be at the recording. Did they record the whole thing or were there any out-takes or pickups?

They did the run through first and then the producer came out and got the readers and Terry to re-record various lines etc. You wouldn't know it but Terry forgot to say hello at the beginning so the hello you hear in the recording was one of the last things said. Which is why there is a lot of laughter mixed in with the applause.

My memory isn't great but as far as I can tell they kept in most of Terry's recommendations. I think that is why the moved it to midday to ensure the got the full hour.
