I played on Runescape until various factors meant I couldn't afford membership and books, I remember that as being very good.
I've also been getting into Zelda on my DS but I'm struggling to finish this new one (damn purple hands)

Perhaps sir would like to try Counter-Strike Source? Or maybe, as a strategy fan, you would prefer one of the Warcraft series? (Before WofW it was a successful RTS series, I gather)

I've been playing Fallout 3 recently. There are few feelings in life as satisfying as igniting Super Mutants with the Firelance. Enticing a Deathclaw onto a Bottlecap Mine is close, though. (Provided you've backed up a reasonable distance before it 'asplodes. Ouchy!)

Ah, I've heard good things about Fallout 3. My PC isn't good enough to run it, though, so for single-player FPSs you can't beat Half Life 2. The most convincing alien invasion ever devised by a games company... with the possible exception of the prequel.

As much as I love Freeman and blowing up those aliens, the best thing about the Orange Box, for me at least, was Portal. I actually choked up a little when GLaDOS sings at the end. Mind you, I was still emotional from having to "euthanise" the Weighted Companion Cube so the lump in my throat had justification. You've got to love a game that manages to provoke Stockholm Syndrome in the people who play it.

My PC is pretty darned rubbish as well. I'm playing Fallout 3 on my PS3, but I know playing FPS's with a joypad isn't to everyone's taste. If you have a PS3 or 360 it's worthwhile, though. It's more of a first person RPG than a true blue shooter anyhow. (Having said that, the DLC is very action oriented. Buy the Game of the Year edition to get the DLC on the disc for free.)

EDIT:- Ha-ha! Just spotted your Song of the Month post here. I'm not the only person who thinks that song is awesome, then?

Fallout 3 doesn't ask me to cuddle it or make cups of tea when I'm finished playing with it. I can simply finish playing when it's convenient for me, then go straight to sleep. After ten years of marriage, it's good to finish in my own time for once.

Sorry I didn't thank you before for your suggestion Quark, I seem to have missed your post. I googled Counter-Strike Source and will certainly give it some consideration after I finish Fallout 3, although I am pretty useless at first person shooters. Thanks for the recommendation.
