Technical problems/Questions

Postby Catch-up » Sat Oct 04, 2008 2:24 pm

I hope I'm putting this in the right place. There's a thread about technical problems on this forum over on the CA forum, and it just seemed to make more sense to start one here.

My technical problems: It sometimes takes me several tries to sign in. When I do get signed in I often don't get the flags to let you know there have been new posts added to threads. And, often, the pages are very slow to load.

My question: Will there be a place here to trade/sell DW stuff?

Thanks! :D

:D

Hopefully someone can figure it out. It gets really frustrating having to sign in three times. :( And it's not that I'm getting one of the fields wrong. I don't get the screen that says I got it wrong, I get the index as if I'd signed in successfully.

Susanne, have you tried deleting your cookies, your browsing history and your cache to see if that sorts out the problem?

What browser are you using?

Nope, I hadn't thought of that, probably because it was only happening here. But I'll give it a try! I use Internet Explorer.

Toss your cookies Susanne.

I use BT Yahoo browser and it automatically signs me in when I open the page. Not had any problems like that at all. :?

I'll let you know if it works. I never opt for the "sign me in automatically" option because that means I'll eventually forget my password.

I got round having to sign in several times by signing in (3 times or more) and then 'Bookmarking' the page: http://88.208.209.103/minisites/terrypratchett/forum/index.php rather than http://www.terrypratchett.co.uk/forum/

All I have to do is open the page, sign in and all the flags and stuff is up to date. I use Firefox 3 though as opposed to that Microsoft crap

That's what I did.

Deleted cookies, etc. That seems to have fixed the sign in problem. Tried your link Mark, but I'm still not getting the new posts flags. :(

Apparently deleting the cookies only worked the first time around. I'm back to having to sign in multiple times, and still no new post flags. :(

It's a good thing I'm relentless.

I know, I know. Derek's been trying to sell me on Firefox for awhile now. I haven't been motivated to change, but then again, I haven't really run into any problems. So, maybe this will do it.

And they're gone again - though I'm logging in Ok I have to log in again to post (though thankfully only once per visit rather than every post)
