Right, because the Disc's gravity field is created by octiron deep in it's crust, and, as everyone knows, octiron can only exist in an area with a strong magical field.

I am picturing that Spin Art which was so popular when I was a kid. Started reading Interesting times last night and am chuckling about Rincewind listening to Ponder mention the possibility that he could arrive in a big smear.
