The weather is heaven at the moment. After a stinking hot summer the autumn is turning out lovely. Temperate days and cool nights. We've also had rain so's everything is green.

We had a pretty amazing blizzard yesterday. It started around 8am and was still going at 11pm. Even this morning the winds are still very high.

Sunny, cloudy but cold up here in N.E Yorkshire. Hope it warms up a bit soon though.

The autumn rain is here. These are some pics of the CBD of Yeppoon, a seaside town 30 min from me. Pics taken yesterday afternoon ...

Yikes! I was going to complain about the sleet we got today, but - nevermind. :shifty:

It's our wet season at the moment janet so we get big rain this time of the year. It does look full-on but most of Queensland had been drought declared so it's a beautiful sight. I don't think there was much damage, that water ran away pretty quick.

Remember the Somerset Levels. 8-)

The reason the Somerset levels flooded so easily is that, historically, that much of that land was below sea level and was drained to make the landscape we have now. :) If the drainage channels can't handle the rain, then it will naturally flood.

Nothing's level here and the land has been far less mucked about than many places so we're very lucky and don't need to worry about flooding. The nearest we got was that massive storm in summer of 2012 when so much water fell all at once our surface drains couldn't cope and it was only a sheet of plywood and a bag of compost (to block the back door opening) saved us from a very wet ground floor! Killed my lovely old work boots for those who remember
I'd want to live nowhere else but here.
In that case Sister Jen........bring on the rain (in moderation and for a long time) :D

We're finally getting closer to spring temps, but I've been feeling too cruddy to enjoy it much. I always seem to feel like I'm coming down with something whenever the seasons change. :?

I think it's time for a weather update....
Very spring-like around here; are you still under snow over there in US/Canada?
