Not really. They should last you for years if you look after them with the occassional polish. I'm looking for about 10 years use out of mine. So that works out at £9 a year. So if you can afford the initial expense, they're a bit of a bargain.

I just realised.... It's the Samuel Vimes 'Boots' Theory of Economic Injustice!

I'm extremely heavy on boots or shoes I would be lucky if I got 2½ to 3 years out of them, which makes them pricey if you're paying £200 or more for them.

That's true.

My shoes cost me £90 I think. And my boots about £120.

I had a pair of leather cowboy boots I loved fitted like a glove very comfy, in the 10 years or so for the sole n' heeling it would have been cheaper to buy new boots every 2 years but could never find a pair like them again.

I would hate to have to stop wearing DMs. I have a bad back and they actually help with my walking.

They aren't DM's ;)

The BBC has had to correct itself over the make of boots being worn by Peter Capaldi as the Doctor.

The entire costume ensemble was revealed last Monday, with the BBC stating that the footwear was Dr Marten shoes. However, it was subsequently realised that the corporation had erred and that they were, in fact, made by Loake - a Kettering-based footwear firm with a warrant of appointment to the Queen. It also transpired that Capaldi had bought the boots himself.

In a report in the Daily Telegraph, Nicholas Roumana, the owner of the British Boot Company (spot the coincidence as regards the shop's initials!) in Camden Town, said of the Loakes:

Peter Capaldi came in a week or two before Christmas and said he was looking for a pair of smart dress boots. I suggested this one, because not only is it very smart, it's exclusive to us and made in England. It's a great boot. He bought it in size 10.

Very good. I am hoping to start stocking sound chipped plush Doctor Who keyrings in the summer. I saw them at the trade fair earlier this week and there will be all the Doctors available plus the tardis, a cyberman and a couple of daleks in different colours. At the moment only the last four are available I should get them when the various Doctors are produced

Very clever. Love the Eccleston one.
