Puffin Virtually Live hosted a special Dr Who event this week featuring some of the 11 authors who wrote brand new stories for this year's 50th anniversary celebration. Hosted by Charlie Higson the video features contributions from Eoin Colfer, Marcus Sedgwick, Malorie Blackman, Charlie Higson and Neil Gaiman and is a "must see" for Doctor Who fans everywhere.

Eoin Colfer on his choice of Doctors

One of the fantastic weapons in the Doctor’s arsenal is his ability to regenerate, and as such means we’ve been blessed with 11 different versions of the Doctor. But for my story, I wanted to go back before regeneration, where there was just the First Doctor and Susan. I picked Number 1 – William Hartnell, because I found his personality to be very close to mine; he’s a little bit grumpy, I’m a little bit grumpy, he doesn’t really like running around and I don’t blame him! I chose William Hartnell, the slow and grumpy Doctor.

I have the book of all 11 stories and the weakest is the first one by Colfer after that it picks up and finishes with Gaiman's 11th Doctor story, Colfers just reads like fan fiction it is so poor.
One of those? Oh I'm sure I have one somewhere..

Note for all Australian Who fans this could be interesting

RiAus, Australia’s national science hub, in collaboration with BBC Worldwide, is to bring a live stage event exploring scientific mysteries raised by Doctor Who, to the five main cities of Australia later this year.

The show will use scenes from the series and look at time travel, regeneration, teleportation and just why the TARDIS is bigger on the inside. Hosted by comedian Rob Lloyd, it features eminent scientists, who also happen to be Doctor Who fans, exploring some of the science-reality behind the fiction.

On the team is Dr Martin White, a particle astrophysicist at the University of Adelaide, Dr Allie Ford, a science communicator at Monash University, Dr Alan Duffy, an astrophysicist at the University of Melbourne and David Jennens, a physicist from the University of Melbourne working at the Large Hadron Collider in Switzerland. Audiences are encouraged to bring along their smartphones and join in the fun and will get an opportunity to decide which Doctor Who alien will take over the universe.

Helen Pendlebury, head of Entertainment for BBC Worldwide ANZ comments
2013 was a huge year for Doctor Who fans with the 50th Anniversary celebrations. We're excited to be working with RiAus in bringing this new interactive and educational live show to audiences around the country. We're hoping fans will come away, not only entertained, but also informed by some of the scientific theories explored in Doctor Who storylines
RiAus is dedicated to promoting public awareness and understanding of science in Australia. The director, Dr Paul Willis, said
This will give everyone something to talk about for a long time to come. As well as showcasing the famous Time Lord through clips of his memorable moments, it will also take a look at the aliens and monsters made famous by the series. the audience will learn some interesting science facts and learn what the fiction behind Doctor Who is all about.

Well, I'm not interested. As enjoyable as Doctor Who is, its science is admittedly about as soft as the Bursar's head, and attempts to bring in harder science don't last long, although they provide the basis for some interesting stories (like The Leisure Hive dealing with tachyons, and Logopolis dealing with entropy).
"What have you been doing since you stole that antique TARDIS of yours, since you first landed on Skaro? Shouting 'Look at me!!! I'm not fighting a war!', while you battle the Daleks all the way through space and time."

Took my boy and his friend as a birthday present to the Doctor Who 50th anniversary convention in London last November, IT WAS AWESOME! He had his photo taken with Matt Smith and we had VIP tickets which meant we had access to a VIP lounge :banana-dance: :banana-dance: At one point all 5 doctors at the convention (Tom Baker, Peter Davidson, Colin Baker, Sylvester McCoy and Matt Smith) walked in for a photo shoot right in front of us!!!! God knows how we can top that this year!
Ssshhhh! It's really SpideyGirl here
