Why? The threat of me singing is usually pretty persuasive...

That's no threat. I can sing better, and worse, than you can. The latter has been banned under at least two international treaties. :P

Oh, the idea's an excellent one. Just weird enough to hook me, but I've modified it enough so that it falls within a scientifically plausible (if pretty far out) context.

The trouble is getting a story together based on the idea. I have a few thoughts which I'll have to consider and see whether I can work something out...

I'm not saying specifically. I'm a bit paranoid about that. However, I've turned something of myth and fantasy into something somewhat more realistic, like I did with the previous novel I entered. :)

Well, so much for my idea. I'm working on other novels at the moment, and the TP Prize hasn't been announced as of yet (if ever).

Don't give up, Q... if a story wants to be told, it'll force itself on you ;)

Well, seeing as they haven't announced it, I guess there's no TP Prize this time around. Figures. :(

Leaving aside the extreme disappointment regarding the lack of a new TP Prize competition, I've actually got a good idea for a short story that I'm writing even now. Maybe this one will be the one...

Can you give us any clues what it is about? :)

No. In any case, it ended up stalling. I might go back to revise it later.

However, my submission for the Second TP Prize will be heavily revised. The basic gist of the story and the characters will remain the same, but the setting is no longer on Earth, and a lot of the story will be changed. Although I made the decision some time ago, today is the first day of actual concrete work on it. Just as well, considering when the next TP Prize will happen...
