Discworld I & II (coming soon to Windows XP & Vista)

The people behind the ScummVM program that allows old DOS based 2D point and click adventures are integrating the tinsel engine that Discworld I and II used into their program so that the games will be able to run on modern Windows Operating Systems.

While this is still a work in progress. If yo have the original disks you will be able to play the games on Windows XP or Vista.

That's fabulous news! My girls will be pleased. We've hung onto a version of Windows 98 on one of their PCs so they can keep playing the games and it'll be fantastic to be able to upgrade the OS to something that has some oomph at last so homework doesn't take them forever to complete!

I loved the games and have still got them somewhere. I will definitely have to dust them off and re-live old times!

I especially loved Eric Idle's voice for Rincewind in the first game. After that game, that was and still is how Rincewind always sounds/ed in my head when reading one of his books.

Hi all

Im sorry Im a bit thick when it comes to things like this.... am i right in thinking you're saying Discworld games (the ones with Eric Idle as Rincewind) are coming to Windows XP???? If so could someone tell me when please as I am desperate to play them again!!!!!

I've just dug up my old Discworld II CD-Roms and got them working under Windows XP using the DOSBox emulator. It appears to work correctly.
