The largest of the Discworld sculptures made by Mark Ayling this is based on the descriptions in the book Moving Pictures and is clearly influenced by early film cameras in use in Hollywood at the time of the black and white classics. Unlike the normal iconograph there has to be more imps here to deal with the speed at which pictures are being painted to create the illusion of movement. So there are two painters and to go with them 4 blowers to blow the pictures dry before they are rolled up. At the time of the model being made there is obviously a break in production as one of the blowers looks as though he can barely do any more. The imps are all loose figures and the reels are removable for easier packing but all the rest of the model is a single peice.
I'm really struggling to get things made at the moment as my day job is taking up far more time than I'd like, to the point where I think I'm going to have to put any future orders for figurines on hold until things calm down a bit
the movie iconograph is no longer pictured on Mark's new website so I guess this might be the last one of these for a while so I'm glad I contacted him when I did.
