Here are my latest entries for the start of the year's Print competitions;

Finding a Gap In Worthing's Seaweed
Image
(Seaweed is a real problem in Worthing and was even included in one of Jane Austen's novels after she stayed in Worthing and based one of her seaside resorts on the place)

Warning! Photographer on the Hunt.
Image
(My mate trying to find something to photograph. :lol: )

Charlestown.
Image
This one printed out a bit darker than I would have liked. I was trying hard to get an aged 'distressed' look to it and have put it in a sepia frame. (judges don't like coloured frames or obviously photoshopped pics too much so it might not score well.)

The competition is next week so I'll let you know how I get on then. :handgestures-fingerscrossed: :D

Love the photos, Penfold. Charlestown is my favourite but all three are atmospheric. :clap: Image

Just got back from the print comp and the results were a rather mixed bag;

    "Finding a Gap in Worthing's Seaweed" scored 16 out of 20.
    "Warning: Photographer on the Hunt" scored 15 out of 20.
    "Charlestown" scored 17 out of 20.

The judge was incredibly strict and picked up on the slightest thing (Charlestown was marked down because a couple of the houses had tv ariels on them that I hadn't removed, detracting from the distressed, aged feel that was meant to be portrayed, for example). At least he was fair with it and ready to offer advice, especially to the beginners; in fact it was a beginner who won best of the night. :D

Geez. That is kinda picky. I had to really look for those ariels. I wouldn't have noticed them if you hadn't mentioned it. Still great scores though, congratulations! :D

Just got back from my short break and received news today from the camera club's entries in the Sussex Regnum Crouch competition. As I said before, this is a very prestigious competition representing the best pics from Sussex camera clubs (each club enters six photos, over six rounds, which are marked out of twenty). Our club, Worthing, came second with a score of 114 out of 120. :D :dance:

This was my pic that had been chosen to represent the club;

House of Bureaucracy.

By the way, my pic scored 20! :D :D :D :dance: :dance: :dance: :D :D :D

For next weeks projected image competition, I have entered these three pics;

The Pier in Twenty Seconds.
