Actually, if you get sacked over here, you are deemed to have "made yourself unemployed" and are therefore not entitled to any benefits for about 6-8 weeks, I believe.

Suppose it depends on the circumstances but I know some people here who've wanted to quit but made a balls up instead to get fired.

I feel very sorry for the poor people whose homes and businesses were destroyed by Sandy, only to have this happen.

Hadn't thought of that. Could easily be breaking point for many of them.

Angry and frustrated.

The developers have submitted papers to get outline permission to build on the green fileds. Reading through, their general message seems to be 'there will be no environmental impact' and the huge amount of extra population will actually be good for the local community as it will support the local services. Ha....local services.....that'll be the Tesco express (which forced the village shop & post office to shut) and the local pub which shut despite an already large increase in housing in the village.

Rather bemused :shifty: . . . About to embark on my 54th orbit of the sun

Exhausted, but for good reasons. My sister and b.i.l. head home this morning. :( But we had such a great week visiting. Our mom made dinner for everyone every night, we shopped, we went out for lunches, I got a peek at Car & Driver's 10 best trials and rode in a very fancy car, we had more relatives coming and going for visits... it was fun, but exhausting. :D

I need a creativity enema. Like, a big bloody syringe you stick into your skull and flush out the writer's block, which is a form of metaphysical constipation.

Even so, I have a potential idea for the next TP Prize. Wish me luck...

Well, I've found something about mental emetics here...

How Lister could keep a straight face looking at the Cat wearing that earring is beyond me.

Everything Rimmer says makes me laugh, books & tv show.

Thanks Q, that cheered me up.

BTW, good luck, Smeghead!

Happy Belated Birthday Jaeger! Sorry I missed that.

Best of luck Q!

Still tired, but only because I can't seem to get back in the habit of getting to bed at a decent time. :(
