Vacations

Postby majomull » Tue Aug 06, 2013 1:15 pm

Who all amongst you takes an actual vacation and goes away with the family or friends ? Or do you do the less stressful/expensive staying home and relaxing? Where do you go, and what do you do- or for the younger folks, who do you do and why? I will be taking next week off with my family and staying on Cape Cod. Plenty of beaches,mini-golf and fried sea food in my future. We take one of my daughters little friends with us as well; although with all the shark sitings this year calling her "your little chum" may be inapprporiate....:)

I don't do vacations. Not allowed. All my annual leave entitlement is taken up by visiting The Mother.

Heaven help me if I wanted to go away for a proper holiday. Not worth the aggro.

I try and do a few city breaks over the year. We've done London, Liverpool, Budapest, Barcelona, Berlin , Madrid and Gottingen in the last couple of years.

So many fond memories of packing everything for a toddler. Don't tell anyone, but on one trip we loaded the whole car with alll the possible gear leaving just enough room for the car seat, and off we went- then realized that we had left Rylee in her car seat on the porch. We only had gone 100 feet, but still it was one of those "Parent of the Year" moments.

Used to camp when the kids were small. That was interesting and rather tiring. Not fun when kids have an upset tummy and the toilet is 5 minutes walk away.

We've all had those parent of the year moments!

We try to get away every year. Every two years we take the girls to Walt Disney World in Florida. In between we do other things, a few east coast trips, one to the Wisconsin Dells (never again!) and once we did St. Louis and an Arkansas state park. All except the Dells and a trip to Sebasco Resort in Maine were great! Soon we'll be heading west. We're going to do some touristy stops like the Corn Palace, Wall Drug and Mount Rushmore on our way to visit my sister and b.i.l. in Montana, then we'll spend a few days in Yellowstone. Really excited! :D It is a 3 week trip though, longer than our usual trips. A lot of togetherness!
