I did manage to drop one of my lenses the other day (valued around £700) onto concrete. :doh: Fortunately, it bounced well and the only damage appears to be a couple of scratches on the lens cap. :D

Ouch Penners, I did that once and damaged the fitting so that it would no longer connect to the camera. I was on holiday as well so it looked like I was going to be without a telephoto lens for the rest of the trip. Fortunately I was travelling with a group of bird watchers and one of them had barely used his camera on the trip as he was using his binoculars far more so leant it to me. He had to let me have the entire camera as it was a different lens mount. I paid him back by having two sets of the prints done so that he could have a few hundred photos which he probably wouldn't have got round to taking.
One of those? Oh I'm sure I have one somewhere..
