Another unknown or a female to be different.

Adrian Lester could be interesting, he's a very accomplished actor.

That's the guy who plays Mickey Bricks from Hustle, right?

That's actually a good choice. Wish I'd thought of it. I haven't seen enough of Idris Elba or Paterson Joseph's work to judge them, but Adrian Lester'd make an excellent Doctor.

Derek Jacobi ?

Or
Dara O Briain ;)
You could then have Griff Rhys Jones & Rory McGrath as his assistants, and by pure chance a series of Three men inna Tardis

Actually think that's a good suggestion Dug. The actor who plays Father Jack is very talented, plus the added bonus that most viewers over here wouldn't recognize him outside of that role either, after he had scrubbed up. :D

Oooooh I have an idea, lets get reallllllyyy screwy with the wibbly wobbly timey wimeyness and get either Alex Kingston or Georgia Moffet.
Btw Adrian lester was also in quite an interesting series called bone kickers

With sixty seconds worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a man my son.

I do hope you mean interesting in the ironic sense?

Bonekickers (or Bonkers as it was referred to on the BBC Boards!) was a load of old tosh, but the thread on the BBC about it was hilarious to read!
