They should have a rule that you can't vote for your neighbour.
I live in hope that one day it will be based on talent.

Lmfao can't believe Greece aren't winning, but then to be fair nobody wants to give them any points because they will just lose them down the back of their sofas!

Congratulations Denmark.
But I really preferred Iceland. (sigh)
I also liked Hungary.
Greece and Romania - thank you for reminding me why I love the goofy and cheese-tastic aspects of ESC. :)

Just to explain for those of you who have never seen the Eurovision Song Contest, it is basically an ingenious way to prevent world war 3 by letting all the European countries who officially hate each other, vent their frustrations on an annual basis by deliberately not giving their rivals any points. Oh and before this political popularity contest there is some sort of amateurish musical warm up act for a few hours.
Now some of the more obvious scenarios include: Scandinavian countries voting for each other, likewise former soviets, Spain and Portugal usually help each other out as do Germany, Switzerland and Austria. Surprisingly France often manages to get some points and Ireland inevitably win, because they get every one else drunk and give them the wrong number to vote for in countries that have a telephone voting system.

Thank you so much, this is brilliant. And this is exactly why I got sucked into ESC in the first place. :D It's been a great source of my cultural education of modern-day Europe. :D :D :D

Ok, reading this made me watch a few entries. I set the bar high, My Lovely Horse is the song I judge all others by. However, I like Greece. The song has a wonderful message... And the men look sexy.

Our commentators are the BEST. Real tongue in cheek stuff. Thank you once again Julia and Sam.

You DO realise Jenn that the Eurovision contest has a huge gay fan base right? Didnt perhaps notice the very large number of well dressed men crowding the stage????

Didn't see Eurovision, but I suspect that Greece breathed a sigh of relief that they didn't win, as they'd have to host the contest next year.

Father Ted had that bit right.
