Just got in from the camera club and the picture won the best monochrome award in the annual print competition. I should be collecting a few trophies next week and will post a pic of them here. :D

Not really. I often ask advice from the people here if I can't decide what pictures to submit to the comps. A subjective view really helps and has probably made the difference in me winning the merit competition (joint first) this year and coming second. :D

Great news Penners. :D

Photographing awards won for photographing things is somewhat recursive though ;)
One of those? Oh I'm sure I have one somewhere..

Ah, but without the support and good taste of the people here I wouldn't have done as well, so it's only right and proper that I should share the awards. :D (I won't be entering that pic in the competitions though.)

As promised, here are the awards that you guys helped me win. :D

Image

I picked up five awards altogether, including outright winner of the Merit Projected Image competition (a sort of league competition through the season). However, since I actually ended up with joint high score on this and was declared the winner only on the count back of 'best of awards' as opposed to the most twenties scored, I decided to share this trophy with the other person (the club's chairman and Licentiate of the Royal Photographic Society). He will hold the trophy for six months and I will take it back then, so it is not included in the photo. :D

The large trophy in the middle is for the Best Monochrome Print of the Year. The two smaller cups are for Best Projected Monochrome Image of the Year and Runner Up for Best Projected Image of the Year. I also picked up a certificate for Most Improved Photographer of the Year (no trophy for this one) due to it being only my second season at the club and my first in the Advanced Category.

Once again, THANK YOU ALL! I doubt that I would have had such a successful season without your support and advice so I would like to dedicate these to you all. :D

Wow, Penners. Well done old sausage.
Some are born great, some achieve greatness and some have greatness thrust upon them.

The rest of us are a bit crap.

What's up with this glass? Excuse me? Excuse me? This is my glass? I don't think so. My glass was full! And it was a bigger glass!

Bravo

Most impressive, Penners! But don't belittle your part in this. We had the easy job of picking the best of what was already a lot of excellent pictures. You did all the work in the first place. :D
