Unfortunately, the frames are metal, which makes it difficult to attach things to them. To replace them all would be prohibitively expensive. So we're just going to wait and see what she says.
What's up with this glass? Excuse me? Excuse me? This is my glass? I don't think so. My glass was full! And it was a bigger glass!

Hmmmmm. I know they want to ensure kids are safe, but I wonder how many kids have lived in the houses over the years without any problem  Hope you come up with some inexpensive solutions.

*sniff* Hubby has gone on holiday to Italy with his aged parents without me... Younger Toothlet is a poorly bunny so I'm staying behind to look after her but will miss hubby, especially as it's our anniversary tomorrow. I hope he has a lovely time though and brings me back something nice. :)

I've been suffering with a sore throat since yesterday. I hope it lets up soon.

Plus our return flight from LA is messed up; and the car rent for one way to LA is insane!

And I got an $1100.00 bill from Revenue Canada because I have too much money in my TFSA!! I must have forgot there was a limit. :?

Don't want to sell it, I meant old as in 'it's old' rather than 'previous' :D

It's grade II Mad, but the changes would mean the window frames, which I can't touch  There might be a work-around, I know there's others in my village who've been through this so there must a solution somewhere :?

Oh! Sorry I misunderstood. Hope you get a positive response from the inspector.

Toothy, hope the little one is better soon! :(

Now? Relieved. Earlier? [EFF!]ing frightened!

Allow me to elucidate. This morning, my mother and I were in the process of making our breakfast, when I saw something moving in front of the window. Or rather, out of the runner of the sliding window. I soon realised what it was...

And screamed.

Why? Well, it was this...

SNAKE!!!

Image

My mother, who was busy filling the kettle, thought I was screaming because of something else, until my slightly-more rational brain centres engaged with my vocal cords to tell her what I was screaming about. Then, she screamed too.

The bloody thing got in through an air-hole in the sliding window that didn't have a cap on it, and was squirming around the kitchen. I beat on the kitchen bench to try and shoo it back out, while my mother decided to get a hammer and an axe, just in case. I am not kidding. She HATES snakes. And spiders. And interminable lectures on Doctor Who. She didn't use said implements, though.

We managed to scare the damned thing between a window pane and a window screen, and kept it there until the snake people picked it up.

The punchline? It was a juvenile green tree snake. And green tree snakes, funnily enough, are not only non-venomous (though given Australia's reputation for deadly snakes, it never hurts to be careful, and it may have been a baby brown snake, which is very [EFF!]ing dangerous), but they defend themselves like skunks do.
I've lived for over 2000 years, and not all of them were good ones. I've made many mistakes. And it's about time I did something about that.

A bit of excitement in the morning keeps the heart beating!

I remember once in Tucson seeing one of our cats heading back to the apartment with a small live snake in her mouth. I tried to intercept her so I could get it off her, but she wasn't having any of that! It was HER wriggly thing and if I was going to be like that about it, she'd take it somewhere else to play with it.

Ginger.

I've got some Twinings Lemon and Ginger tea bags, and if you have one, leave the bag in (no milk) the ginger is really strong by the end of the cup, and may well help your throat.

Failing that, wine. ;)
