The English usually don't care but bearing in mind that the scots were at war with the English for centuries it kind of understandable when they get pissed off. I had an American acquaintance once who insisted on referring to the island as England, so I started saying he was from Alaska, using the it's the biggest part argument! I myself was born & raised in England but all my paternal heritage and half my maternal heritage is Scottish, hence I consider myself British not English, I mean seriously it was only about 300 years ago that we unified.
