Thanks Jason.

I've posted a message about it on the BBC POV boards.

Orangutans going extinct is like elephants or dolphins going extinct, everyday creatures we take for granted, it's such a shame. Needless to say this is quite a shock, hopefully we'll find replacements for the libraries soon.

I'm really happy I managed to watch it. It's also the first time I've seen such decent footage of orangutans so that was nice.

What a great documentary! Really makes me want to go to Indonesia myself and see the orangutans in person. Hopefully, one day I'll have the chance :)

I did read a good overview/review(?) of Facing Extinction in case anyone happened to miss it. You can read it yourself here: http://poetryofphysics.blogspot.com/2013/03/terry-pratchett-facing-extinction.html

Anyway, beautiful filming of the documentary. With all the recent extinction talk on NatGeo and TedX it's sad to think about how humans come in and just decimate species. Hopefully the Orangutan Foundation International and their dedicated staff, showcased in the film, can do something about it.

Welcome to the site, Horace! :D

I don't know if it's just me, but when I click that link, I just get the background and the title of the article - no text. :?

I'm going to watch the documentary on the BBC iPlayer this morning. :)

I've just watched it this morning too. Many thoughts but fewer maudlin ones than I anticipated. The parallels between Terry's life and that of the (presumed late) orangutan he met 18 years ago are made evident on many levels. Mostly I'm filled with an understanding of love in its purest form. I'll be watching again before it disappears from iPlayer.
