There are plenty of incidents of Friendly Fire throughout history and from all sides. The British have had their own share of incidents, such as the first time they used poison gas in WW1 only to have it blow back on their own troops.

It has always been a problem in warfare as this Wiki of Friendly Fire incidents going back to the War of the Roses shows.

Yeah, well, when you have the largest number of troops and weapons involved and you're the ones doing most of the dangerous fighting, and taking most of the damage, and fighting right at the front, the chances of friendly fire are much higher.

Some are born great, some achieve greatness and some have greatness thrust upon them.

The rest of us are a bit crap.

rectangles! They recomment rectangles instead of triangles! Has anyone ever told them how many dangerous corners a rectangular flapjack has? They should only allow ball shaped food. Or soup. Cold soup.

I only heard about this story this morning. I did so on the Doctor Who News Page, but rather than have a link to that article, I've found a review of the book in question, and the story involved.

Let's just say that I'm deeply disappointed. :(

Yeah, that was headline news (in The Sun) yesterday.

Takes the shine off the 50th.

What's worse, according to another website, is that Colin Baker (the Sixth Doctor) is being dragged into it, solely because the photo The Sun have used for their cover was a photo of John Nathan-Turner with Baker next to him, instead of cropping the photo. And Colin Baker has had journalists camped outside his door because of this. And yet, the people at issue are only John Nathan-Turner and his partner, Gary Downie. AFAIK, Richard Marson has only named and shamed them. :|
