RIP Van Cliburn

Classical Music lost one of its great virtuoso pianists yesterday when Tchaikovsky Competition winner Van Cliburn died.

RIP. He was a great influence on many pianists and musicians.

RIP Van Cliburn. I'm showing my age, but I remember when he won this competition (as seen in the cover of the album) just 6 months after the Russians launched sputnik. He made the cover of Time Magazine with the label "The Texan Who Conquered Russia". He was a major influence on so many up and coming pianists. He's one of my favorite players. "May flights of angels sing thee to thy rest" Mr. Cliburn. :cry:
