Would there be any chance of you posting your photos of the planets at some time for us to look at and admire (pleeease)? My photographic equipment limits me to the occasional snap of the moon but I've always found astronomy a fascinating subject.

I haven't had much chance to do any astronomy for a while, the telescopes I have access to are on the other side of the country, and the skies have not been kind over the last few months. My efforts have been very modest compared to some of the pictures on that site, all taken by amateur astronomers. To pick a random example, here's a picture of Bode's galaxy taken a few days ago in poor conditions (bright moon):

Incidentally, the £6 XBox Live camera is proving quite popular with amateur astronomers for moon and planetary imaging, although it needs a bit of modification:

Hi all, I'm Geoff and I'm and Pratchett-holic.

I don't want any recovery programme from this addiction though.

I first came across PTerry when I picked up a copy of The Light Fantastic as I browsed WHSmiths in Piccadilly Railway Station at Manchester --- yeah, it was a while back. I really like the style and searched out his 'other books': Strata, Darkside of the Sun... and, Oh, The Colour of Magic... and read that too. Sad to say I have none of those copies because I just passed them around the office for everyone else to read. Little did I (or anyone except for PTerry perhaps) realise what a phenomenon I had got in on the ground floor of.

There used to be a public access usenet server called Spuddy - and I got access to a newsgroup called alt.fan.pratchett through that... mindblowingly PTerry actually talked to us directly in there, he chatted about bread products and roundabouts and merkins and........

Then there was the 'Tenner-a-month club' - this was a group of people who stumped up money to start a company called Demon Internet, and for £10 (plus vat) a month had direct dial up access to the internet. Of course I was one. The vast majority used PCs, a number used Amigas... a couple of us - me included - used Acorn Archimeded... we had to write our own software to make connections. There were no web browsers - the world wide web hadn't been dreamt up at that point. The main aim was to get news readers, and email clients, running. We made it, and PTerry was there with us... on his PC.

I am very happy to join in with this group of pioneers once more - setting out on the journey through the universe, or multiverse, standing on a pizza like world, sat aback of four giant space elephants, standing on the meteor pocked carapace of the space turtle Great A'Tuin.
