Says a lot about the mother that she seems to have allowed her eight year old daughter a boyfriend, and one of 17yrs of age.

My guess is that they're poor, and it's nearly impossible for the mother to track 11 children. I might also question whether the girl was really 9--in those parts of the world, birth records are often not even kept. Even if she's not, it doesn't make the story any less tragic.

What worries me is the fact that they even offered the job at all - in Germany if you're unemployed and refuse to apply for jobs that the job centre offers you they can cut your benefits. I wonder if there are women who apply for jobs like this just because they are scared of losing the money...
