Victorian era stories are often the best. The Evil of the Daleks, missing all but one episode though it may be, is nonetheless one of the best Dalek stories of all time, partly because most of the story is set in the Victorian countryside. Then, you have The Talons of Weng-Chiang which, leaving the unfortunate Yellow Peril elements aside, is my personal favourite of the entire Tom Baker era. And then, there's the brilliantly-written, if somewhat hard to follow, Ghost Light. In what other story could you find mad explorers, aliens evolving from one form to another, a priest turning into a chimpanzee, a Neanderthal manservant, and a policeman turned into primordial soup, and thus dubbed 'the Cream of Scotland Yard'?

The only real exception to the great Victorian stories is The Next Doctor. Not bad, but below average as far as I am concerned.
I've lived for over 2000 years, and not all of them were good ones. I've made many mistakes. And it's about time I did something about that.

Really enjoyed the christmas special, my favourite lines were, "Hello, I am a lizard lady from the dawn of time, and this is my wife." and "Do not attempt to escape or you will be obliterated! May I take your coat?" Brilliant. :clap:

One of my favourites from the show is Q's current signature;

Doctor: "When you find something brand new in the world, something you've never seen before, what's the next thing you look for?"
Strax: "A grenade!"

Believe it or not, I found one of the funniest lines was closer to the start, when Jenny and Vastra are confronting Simeon, and he snarks at them about Arthur Conan Doyle probably basing Holmes and Watson on them:

Simeon: I doubt the readers of The Strand magazine would accept that the great detective is in reality a woman— and her suspiciously intimate companion.
Vastra: I resent your implication of impropriety! We are married.
Jenny: Which is more than can be said for you, eh, dear.

:laughing-rolling:

Apparently K-9 is guest starring in Stargazing Live: Back to Earth. :D I was out last night so I missed the first episode, but I'll probably catch up tonight.

It was very good with Dara O'Briain and Proffesor Brian Cox presenting and making the technical stuff understandable to people like me. :D

The BBC announced today that Doctor Who resumes on 30th March with 8 episodes.

The Neil Gaiman-written Cyberman episode (episode 7) will air on 11th May.

Ironically enough, if the ABC fast-track them to the following week like they've been doing, then I'm going to have to have them taped on one night, the 13th of April. I have to head up to Brisbane that night to get ready for the Lords of Time convention. Four Doctors, two companions, and a Dalek voice. :D

The Ice Warriors are confirmed as making a comeback!

Oh, and there's some tentative story titles too thanks to Wikipedia: the season opener is called Phantom of the Hex, the fifth episode is called Journey to the Centre of the TARDIS, and the Neil Gaiman episode is called The Last Cyberman.
