When given two options, Chilli, it almost always turns out to be the hardest one to implement that is the correct one.
Yup....that's the usual way things go - a simple 10 minute job turns into a 4 hour nightmare. Been there done that - fixed a rear wheel bearing once - everything that could be stuck/seized was - should have taken 2-3 hours. Ended up taking about 7 and I finished at 11pm by torchlight

I'm hoping that its a 20p spade connector on to the coil. If not its about 20 quid for the parts to see if its a dodgy ignition switch - but thats a pig of a job to do, so I'm starting with the 20p option and hoping
