I know that i moan alot about living on the East coast but we're usually pretty lucky with the Weather, It doesn't snow all that much and i don't live to near a River that is prone to flooding cos it's tidal, It must be awefull to always looking at river levels all the time

The Wind is getting up quite a bit tonight, Though not as bad here as some are having it.

Thankfully, my area seems to have survived, more or less. Lots of rain, lots of wind, and due to the humidity, my garage door clicker doesn't work any more. Still, it could be worse. A lot worse.

In fact, it's just as well I went up to Brisbane Saturday rather than later, given what's happening. I was PO'ed about a signal failure (for the train tracks) between Beenleigh and Bethania, but that seems like a minor thing somehow in retrospect.

Oh, and Happy Australia Day public holiday, Del and Sister Jennifer. Any plans to head to the beach?

Actually, knowing my father, he'd be there.

I worked Aust Day, Q. I'm ashamed to say I kinda forgot most of the day cause I worked extra hours and it was really busy all shift. So, no didn't have much fun. The weather put a damper on most celebrations I think. Happy belated Australia Day to my fellow Aussies though. Most thrilling to share this amazing country with you.

No plans for today either. The sun is shining but tomorrow is the start of the school year & I'm spending the day making muffins & bikkits for the lunchbox. Just call me Nigella Jamie Blumenthal.

It's been so hectic we didn't get to celebrate. Everything was cancelled anyway.

Internet here so so bad. Drops out every few minutes. Too many people on with the weather. Great when everything we NEED is on the net. Had to ring the local council in the end. The water engineers just rang back. We have an alert for the creek behind me and it will peak at 9am tomorrow... 10 hours from now. They aren't sure what will happen. Should be "on your property" but not sure how far. Much calmer than during the big floods. But this is a different event. We shall see.... they said the surge should come near dawn but it's rising pretty fast now.

More concerned with getting H off to school. The creek runs through her school grounds.

We had alternating snow, sleet, rain and freezing rain overnight. Which means the girls got a snow day today, no school. Well, really an ice day.

This brought me to tears... the toddler wouldnt fit in a harness so ingenuity came to the rescue (literally!). The poor little darling was not happy about being zipped into the bag but at least he couldnt fall out... thank goodness he fitted. And the flight crew are so lovely to him. Amazing that they were flying in those winds too.
