this is so much more than panic my ebay account has been hacked and bids have been made huge bids

thankfully the items have been withdrawn but christ this has made me sick with worry I've sent off a message to the help desk about this asking what would've happen if the items hadn't have been withdrawn would I have been forced to honer those bids and what could I do to stop them and if there is nothing then I would have no choice but to shut down my ebay account as the financial risk is too great

That is scary, Ghost! I read that there is a phishing ebay account email, that asks you to check your account details, and steals your information.
I've no idea if it is true, but I ignore every ebay email I receive and only use ebay when I need to - which is rarely!

And here I was... going to get a seperate Debit Card so that I could go on Ebay and buy on the net... I never considered THAT happening! Sheesh!

well there was that one bizarre email I had last year that talked about closing my sellers account but since I don't sell I reported it and I though that was it
but from what I make out two account was hacked mine the so called bidder and the sellers
but I'm waiting for a official reply on the matter

Ebay aren't famed for their response speed Ghost. You will probably eventually hear from their helpdesk in the Phillipines as that is where I ended up when my paypal account was locked out by somebody trying to repeatedly log into it without knowing the correct password. As I had just put about £1,000 in there to cover some purchases for the shop this was a bit worrying when I couldn't log back in.

Hope you get it sorted soon.

By the way have you checked the email address associated with your account the hacker may have changed that to get password changes sent to them, Ebay may be contacting the wrong email.

yeah checked my account settings that my ebay account is connected to when I changed my password
and on top of that I changed my email password
but I am thinking of closing my ebay account and reopening it under a different name and email addy it shouldn't affect my paypal settings should it?

It's not a problem I moved Ebay account and swapped the associated paypal account over when I took over Bears On The Square
