Toothy gasps. "How come this thread has landed on the second page? A brief absence and...and...and..."
She ferrets around in her Mary Poppins style bag and retrieves a fluffy duster, then proceeds to remove cobwebs and dust from around the place. She takes the cushions from the sofa outside and gives them a good pummelling. Out comes the Hoover and the colours of the carpet are restored to their former vibrancy. A quick clean of the crystal and glitter and everything's back to normal again. Phew!
It has been a hectic and stressful time for Toothy. Work is very busy and there is some unpleasantness to come which she's not looking forward to but has to deal with, she knows, or things won't get better.
She's been travelling, too, and this has provided some of the better times. Getting to know certain colleagues out of work has been a delight and confirmed her good opinion of them.
Elder Toothlet has been quite stressed, trying (so far unsuccessfully) to find a placement for her 3rd university year. Competition is fierce, with fewer companies offering placements but more students seeking them. (Her's was the year in which everyone took up uni places rather than defer to avoid the higher fees that kicked in the following year). Poor thing has been in quite a state about it all.
Younger Toothlet, thankfully, is in a good place at the moment, having just spent a week freezing her butt off in New York on a school trip. "In our day", mutters Toothy, "we were lucky to go as far as the French coast!" Toothlet had a good time, although a scary moment occurred when doors on the lifts of the Empire State Building initially got stuck on the 82nd floor...
Toothy stretches. "Time to go and see what else has been going on around the board" she says.
