You should try having a surname like Blackwell. Everyone thinks they are the first to spot that your name is half of a make of beans.

However, I have done the Mr Smoke-too-much (Monty Python) back at people (suitably altered) with great success.

People very rarely get my name wrong (it's really quite ordinary), but it still happens. My married surname is always mispronounced at me though, even if I've just said it! People just don't listen :snooty:  If I was naming someone else I'd choose something uncommon, but still a name. Just in case it bugs them later on.

Would you choose the names Daisy or Bunny, for any off-spring?

Of course - and Muppet too! :D

I've never yet heard of any unusual names being: 'Bedroom', or 'Back of Alley'! Perhaps we could start a poll on the more unusual 'Places Conceived' names?

As far as I am aware, I'd be called London (Brockley to be precise).

In that case, I'd be East Dulwich. Of course, for anyone who pretends to be posh, I'd shorten the name to Dulwich!

Can you imagine anyone named Al Fresco???

My dad wanted to call me Kerenhappuch originally.I´m not so happy with my name but agree with mum that it´s way better than Kerenhappuch, because it was her who dissuaded him and then they took the other instead.
if I had been a boy,I would have been a Joel. Also way better than Kerenhappuch...

Or,in conception place names,I would have been Hayes Middlesex. The first one would have been better than either Kerenhappuch OR the one I have now,but the second one....methinks not. ;)
It´s still magic even if you know how it´s done.

As one of 12 children (all with unusual names bar two) it wasnt unusual for Mum to go through ALL the kids names when she was rousing on you... by which time she was in fits of laughter and mostly you got away with it... whatever you were in toruble for...

but strangely when I was in real trouble she would call me "Matilda!". :? My name is not Matilda nor is there a Matilda in my family.. anywhere! She never did this to anyone else. Strange.

Mind you.... I do remember clearly once, three of my brothers (Thalwyn, Lawla and Atcheli) and I sitting in the lounge room. We had been making Christmas decorations and there was cut up paper all over the floor...the room was a mess and Mum was expecting guests at any moment. We had been told to do it in our bedrooms but had gravitated to the lounge room while mum was in the kitchen baking up a fury.

She burst out with "Matthew, Mark and Joseph! Look at this mess!" (she never used bad language or swearing but would call up the saints names like her Irish relatives) ...I remember looking around thinking.. are there some kids I haven't been told about?
Just keep swimming... just keep swimming.. just keep swimming....
