We all missed it rap.
My father sat us outside most nights looking at the stars and all my childhood he raved about how LUCKY we children would be to see it in our lifetime... I spent all my life reading about reports of it and ancient illustrations of how it would send civilisations into panic as it LIGHT UP HALF THE SKY IN A RED FIERY BALL... yeah right.
I got married not too long before it was to appear and my husband was a science geek too so he was also very excited... we raved to anyone who would listen...got THEM excited... arranged Comet parties a year in advance in the middle of canefields (no light).. pre-social media and mobile phones remember... convoys of cars into the dark night... and up to lookouts on hard to get at lone hills...
It was barely visible in a telescope!

Stupid Halleys Comet.
Just keep swimming... just keep swimming.. just keep swimming....
