Just as well you did not want to be a Vet or Surgeon Cheery that's a 7 years long apprenticeship.

- actually that only gets you registration, you don't choose to be a physician (medical doctor) or surgeon until the end of those seven years. That's when your training to be either begins. Training to be a specialist depends upon what you do, but it's usually about another seven years - many surgeon friends of mine who became registered with me at the beginning of the century are still training and doing their exams (mind you, so will I be again soon). Now that's an apprenticeship.

Same here, but I've transferred from a Diploma to do the Masters this year so the bananas will all be miiiiiiinnnne in a couple of years* And much as I'd like to just work in the library, the way our council structures staffing, I have to work in the call centre and at the council's service desk sometimes too, which can be scary sometimes. Still, I'm making a mid-life career change from community services, so I'm taking the experience where I can get it!


*With the small qualifier of actually passing the course first!
