Catweazle - for Christian or Cheery... or ...

Postby Bouncy Castle » Wed Jan 02, 2013 7:46 pm

I know this should be in the TV section, but I wanted to put it somewhere where the most people can see it.

I ordered the entire DVD set of Catweazle in December, hoping to watch it all again over the Christmas hols.

When I undid the package, I discovered that I'd got the (In English on the cover) Complete Collectors Set, but then it turned out to be entirely in German.

Probably me ordering while under the influence of... errr.... liquid refreshment.

Anyhoo... .... anybody want it? No charge.

From Wiki:

The series featured Geoffrey Bayldon as the title character, an eccentric, dishevelled and smelly (but lovable) old 11th century wizard who accidentally travels through time to the year 1969 and befriends a young red-headed boy, nicknamed Carrot (Robin Davies), who spends most of the rest of the series attempting to hide Catweazle from his father and farmhand Sam. Meanwhile Catweazle searches for a way to return to his own time whilst hiding out in 'Castle Saburac', a disused water tower, with his familiar, a toad called Touchwood.

balls I almost did a trick like that last year a DVD I had my eye on dropped in price
from about £8 to £1 and change I was all set to complete my order and took a closer look
at the details the region I had no worries about cause my player is region free but
it was Japanese no subs no dubs that was a problem and the reason for the cheapness
God can't see you when it's cloudy

Hello,

first, thank you for the nice offer and second. sorry that the DVD set didn't turn out to be in English. I find it strange that the DVDs are only in German. Most series you can buy here have German and at least English audio and subtitles galore. Sometimes, though, "German" DVDs are played in English by default and you have to switch the language to English. Perhaps it's the other way round with your set?

It was odd.

I put the first disc into the laptop, and it just started up, without me having to do the Open Disc bit.

And it seemed to be dubbed.

I'll have another look when I get a chance. Perhaps I need to put it into a proper DVD player instead of the computer?

Yes, sometimes DVDs act a bit strangely. Not necessarily only on a computer but also in a player. Try the "menu" or "submenu" button on the remote to see if you can get into a menu and set the language.

I think it's because it's an old movie... I have some, too, which you put into the DVD player and it starts right away... I imagine it's because they converted the video tape into DVD, and that was probably dubbed...? maybe

Nah.

I doubt they'd take them back, as I've removed the plastic film.

It wouldn't hurt to ask them. I've found them to be very understanding in the past.

I was lucky when I bought the Discworld cartoons from a DVD shop in Brisbane. At first, when I was on the train home, I sh** myself when I looked at the back and saw that it was German. But when I looked closer, I saw that it was bilingual. Both German and English audio. *whew*
