Anyway, in what will be one of my last posts before Christmas Eve, I'd like to use this thread as a platform to denounce A Christmas Carol. As much of an a-hole as Scrooge is, and as much as he needed to lighten the [EFF!] up, I think the method used was rather cruel.

In fact, I'm thinking of writing a novel that is my own spin on A Christmas Carol.

My take on A Christmas Carol is this. At least Scrooge had the decency to be miserable. Many company bosses these days treat their employees appallingly and then sod off to the Caribbean or somewhere for Christmas and have a whale of time. Scrooge by contrast sat in the dark on his own.

I know what you mean about bosses but I think the customers are even worse. Every year I get them complaining that we aren't open on Christmas day for them to gamble and moan about losing their money (casinos have to close Christmas Day, all day, by law in this country). That said, last year at least one casino in London closed at midnight Christmas Eve and re-opened at 00:01 hrs on Boxing Day meaning staff had to cut short their Christmas Day to go to work that night.
