Btw,my daughter's name is Emma too.I love the name (my gran's name was Emma as well) but here in Germany people often said it was a horrible name and only for dogs!!
I still love it and Emma loves it too but I think it's awful to judge a child's name like that.

Have you any name ideas you would surely like to share with us?

??? I've never heard that one before. And I don't know a dog called Emma either... where exactly do you live?
(FriendN once was verbally attacked by an obviously mad woman who told her that her pram wasn't good enough for a child, but only for a dog. Maybe she likes to travel...)

Incidentally my daughter is an Emma too...not a traditional name for a dog here luckily, but apparently the most popular girls name in FourEcks the year she was born...so we didn't win any points for originality. Strangely enough I've met a couple of people who have had dogs that share my name, which is an old fashioned German name. No, I'm not sure where I was going with that either.

More importantly, I hope the pregnancy proceeds well and look forward to hearing news on her (whatever her name might turn out to be) arrival!

Cheery,my aunt's new dog is named Emma and I used to have a neighbour who worked in an animal clinic...and she said there were lots of dogs called Emma...I hadn't realized that before,as I didn't know any dogs named Emma at that point either.

Then there was this couple at the market..I called Emma and two elder ladies turned round and started basically to tell me off for being so dense as to give my daughter such a name..They actually said:"Emma?Um Gottes Willen,wer ist denn so blöd und nennt sein Kind Emma!Was für ein gräßlicher Name!"

Then another couple in a zoo asked me if I could answer for my child to be called 'Aunty Emma' at school.
And so on and so forth.

But Then,I've also been publicly told off by various people for speaking English with my kids.Utter strangers turn to my kids and say:"You poor child,can you speak German at all?"

Ah,I miss England,I do.
