Cheery,my aunt's new dog is named Emma and I used to have a neighbour who worked in an animal clinic...and she said there were lots of dogs called Emma...I hadn't realized that before,as I didn't know any dogs named Emma at that point either.
Then there was this couple at the market..I called Emma and two elder ladies turned round and started basically to tell me off for being so dense as to give my daughter such a name..They actually said:"Emma?Um Gottes Willen, wer ist denn so blöd und nennt sein Kind Emma! Was für ein gräßlicher Name!"
Then another couple in a zoo asked me if I could answer for my child to be called 'Aunty Emma' at school.
And so on and so forth.
But Then,I've also been publicly told off by various people for speaking English with my kids.Utter strangers turn to my kids and say:"You poor child, can you speak German at all?"
Ah,I miss England,I do.
It´s still magic even if you know how it´s done.
