And it would appear that there are a large number of dart boards on the wall.

I did love the 'I don't know why you put up with me' bit in A Good Man Goes To War.

What, just before she uses her tongue to make war, not love? And indicating that it is sometimes used for love? :?

But all the same, it's great to see a Silurian (yes, I'm using that term) as an ally of the Doctor's. The Silurians are one of the most sympathetic 'alien' (using the term very loosely, as they do come from Earth) beings on the show, partly thanks to Malcolm Hulke, their creator. In the unlikely event that I ever wrote for the show and could use any previous aliens, I'd go for the Silurians.
I've lived for over 2000 years, and not all of them were good ones. I've made many mistakes. And it's about time I did something about that.

I haven't watched the show yet, but I found the new titles on YouTube. A bit too Gen-Y-ey, but that's not a bad thing, and they've even gone back to (albeit briefly) using the Doctor's face. :D

Oh, and I heard that the main villain is none other than...

Spoiler: show
The Great Intelligence!!!

Cue fanboy squeals that haven't been heard from me in a long, long time!

Seriously, it's about time the Great Intelligence came back!

And voiced by the Sir Philip Bin from Bleak Expectations (I'm pretty certain. Sounds like him anyway)

[Edited as it wasnt' Rob Brydon or even Ron Brydon  ]

Also loved Ron Brydon as the Doctor's Sontaran sidekick.

Uh, who? The actor's name is Dan Starkey, the one who played the Sontaran. And the villain was played by none other than Ian McKellen.

Spoiler: show
Ian McKellen playing the Great Intelligence. I mean, how great is that? :D

Just saw the episode. [EFF!]ing great! :D

I have a number of problems with it, but most of them minor. The only one I want to mention is a continuity problem with the main enemy...

Spoiler: show
Okay, so the events of this story, which is supposed to be the origins of the Great Intelligence, predate the events of The Abominable Snowmen (set in the 1920s) and The Web of Fear (debatable, but seeing as the Doctor shows a map of the Tube, about 1967, in The Snowmen, we'll date it to that year). All fine and dandy, but there's a wee problem.

You see, in The Abominable Snowmen, the Great Intelligence had kept a Tibetan monk called Padmasambhava alive for three centuries. So either the Snow fell on Tibet first, or else the Great Intelligence used multiple offshoots.

Unfortunately, all but one of the episodes of The Abominable Snowmen are missing from the archives, but there are telesnaps from the BBC website that confirm the story:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/doctorwho/classic/photonovels/snowmen/five/31.shtml

http://www.bbc.co.uk/doctorwho/classic/photonovels/snowmen/five/36.shtml

http://www.bbc.co.uk/doctorwho/classic/photonovels/snowmen/five/37.shtml

Aside from that nagging thought, and a few others (did anyone else thought that Ice Governess looked crap?), it was a great story. :D

It was good, but it lacked the heart of earlier Christmas specials. Looking forward to the next episodes though, Clara is just lovely!

My mistake. Didn't sound like Sir Ian Mckellan though.

No idea what I was on about earlier. I blame the mead drank last night

I though it was brilliant Christmas special. Real Victorian London (even with aliens) is always better than some ersatz version on another planet in my opinion.
