What's up with this glass? Excuse me? Excuse me? This is my glass? I don't think so. My glass was full! And it was a bigger glass!

Best wishes for tomorrow Chris. :D

I'm just about to go off to work and finish tomorrow morning at around 6am, getting home about 7:30am. Then I go back and start all over again, going into work at 2pm to start at 4 and finishing at 2pm Saturday morning. I should get home around 4-ish before leaving again for work at 11am to start work at 1:20pm. I finish at 11:20 and should get home Sunday morning at around 1am. I'm starting to hate my job. ;)

Well you can't hate your house!!! You are never home!!

Thats a shocking schedule. You make sure you don't drive tired. Stay safe Penners

Is it legal to work those hours? No rules about adequate rest between shifts?

I don't drive so I'm perfectly safe on that score. We're meant to have 11 hours between shifts but no-one in the casino business has ever tried taking that one to court (to the best of my knowledge) and since I only work three days a week, I don't mind too much. Besides, if you kick up too much of a fuss over rotas they can really screw you over (one manager, since left, thought it was highly funny to change peoples days off with 48 hours notice and really buggering up their arrangements). And people wonder why I am so pro unions.

Happy Birthday to her! :D I hope the feast goes well tomorrow.

I noticed that Errata had joined here - any chance of getting her to post? ;)

Tomorrow..... oh tomorrow.

There is a huge shopping precinct out near the airport...

A month ago I was asked to launch a mega store/complex... because what I do is high energy full on our jobs are usually 3 to 4 hours for a job. This company wanted someone for 8 hours a day for 7 days. Once it was explained to them that one person can't physically (or mentally) DO that they finally agreed to 2 promoters taking alternate days.

But this is my weekend with H... soooo... I said I would do it as a favour.. but M is over another side of the city at a party tonight at my oldest daughters apartment.

Soooo... my boss is going to mind H at her place. H is so excited. But it means I have to leave here at 5am !!!!!! drive out to the bay.. back to the airport.. do 8 hours... back out to the bay and back home. Argh.

On the very first day of the school holidays and everyone on the freeways and bumper to bumper traffic. Yay.

Now the company has decided not to do 7 days.. just the weekend.... now the company has hired an events manager.. who has informed us that I am to use their PA system.. and gosh... no.. they haven't tested it yet... brilliant huh.

It gets better... this ummm events manager... is leaving the whole promotional launch UP TO ME. Oh he will get paid many thousands for this... I will not. I will get my regular rate... for doing his breaking job on an untested system on a store launch the size of a housing estate.

Oh and noone told me... but I was watching TV and chilling last night... its going to be covered by three of the TV stations. Do I get a full briefing days before? Nah ! Do I get a full scheduled working itinerary? Nah. Do I get a full guided preliminary tour over the acreage of this place? Nah... "Just make sure turn up at least 20 minutes before you Mic up".

Okay.

Penners .. I can handle "throw me in the deep end"... but this is "throw her off the starboard bow 2000 miles out to sea" !!!

Some serious big wigs.... a seriously big crowd of shoppers who are expecting me to inform them about and around a place neither of us have any information about...

The clients expecting amazing results from a "professional" are totally well informed.... I won't be.

The ONLY way I can think to play it is as a sense of"wonder .. delight.. and innocent discovery" ad we explore this pleasuredome of unbelievable bargains together.....

Basically... bullsh*t bullish*t and more of the same...

The real bummer is that I haven't done one single bit of Christmas shopping yet and I will be handing the customers some of the best buys in the state at an opening sale bar none... and I can't buy them. Dammit

yeah I agree and I hate it when the customers try and make out that it's
personally your fault that what they want isn't in stock
and it's typical I work in retail myself and I never usually get the time to get my xmas shopping done
except this year I've got my act together and finished mine last week
and at the same time trying not to shop for my self Image
I found a shop in Walsall that has in stock almost all of my amazon wish list
it took a lot self-restraint not to blow all my money
