Someone mentioned spiritis?
On with their heads! I'm the clown prince of fools
if you don't get the joke it's your loss
Love and laughter you see are the new currency
'cause greed's coinage is not worth a toss

Exile yourself to the unforgiving continent of Wraeclast!

C'mon, we need to have more posts than those weirdos who adhere to Christmas traditions! Where's your festive spirits, or, more importantly, your sense of competition?! :auto-dirtbike:

Because its the humbug thread.... and they look in here and think "Ohhhhh... I'd love a humbug!" and they go and eat one and then they have sticky fingers and by the time they get back from washing their hands they have lost their train of thought......

Or is that just me?

...

That wasn't so much losing one's train of thought as much as a major derailment.

I saw a guy in Cardiff city centre yesterday wearing a black Santa hat with "Bah Humbug!" written on it and it occurred to me that even wearing such a hat was being festive. It was a piece of tat made for people to wear at Christmas, so he had (perhaps unwittingly) bought into the Christmas commercialism. Wouldn't it have been better to just not wear anything Christmassy? Or was he being ironic?

It's a bit like all those Republicans who thought it was clever to get anti-Obama stickers for their cars that, from a distance, looked like Obama supporter stickers. To the casual observer who wasn't standing about two feet from their stationary car, they seemed to be supporting Obama. That sort of ruins what they probably thought was a very clever put down of the President. Indeed, people seeing all these signs from a distance and in Republican areas, might just have gained Obama a few extra votes. That says a lot about Republicans.

The difference being that humbugs who wear such hats probably have a sense of irony, whereas those sort of Republicans think that irony is an adjective rather like 'goldy' or 'coppery'.
