Book bargins

I've found some good books in second-hand stores but never Pratchett. I always check the books, sticky pages are a no-no. My best bargain lately wasn't books though. I found some Goon Shows on LP, 20c each. Howzat?

Some of my paperback DW's are looking quite sad. I've started replacing a few but I put the old ones away. I just can't part with them.

I know what you mean nothing one day then three come all at once, That happened to me recently went into a second hand shop and nothing, then went in again the day after and there were three of them, couldn't believe it

I sometime wonder what happened when you suddenly see a whole bunch of Pratchetts. Did the owner die and his/her family got rid of them? Did his/her spouse get rid of them in a fit of jealously? That's the sort of thing my ex would have done.

I just can't imagine myself saying: I'm fed up of all these Pratchett book lying around attracting dust - I think I'll take them to a charity shop.

I got a pile of them from a car boot sale. HB's were £2 & PB's 75p, but, as I bought all of them I got them cheaper, £20. Two of the HB'S were signed. I did have some already, but I couldn't leave them. Boy were they heavy to carry too.

En route to Wincanton I went into an Oxfam shop in Hammersmith picked up two Charlaine Harris Sookie Stackhouse hardback books Deadlocked & Dead Reckoning and they are the last two printed for 0.99p each, also there was 15 Discworld paperbacks for 99p each.

Blimey Dug - that was cheap for Oxfam! They are usually the most expensive charity shop going. Good finds!

It might have been a sale they were having Tony, it did surprise me as Deadlocked only came out in May and is not out in paperback yet.

I keep on finding rare books for like pennies last year I was running early for work and I had some time to kill
so I had a wander around the town centre and the first charity shop I think it was a Mary Stevens shop I went into I found a 2nd edition of the Hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy for just £1.50 and the next shop just around the corner from it I found a proof edition of A heart shaped box by Joe Hill (Stephen King's son) for £1.25


But two years ago I found a English 1st edition of Richard Batchman's The rage for £1.15 and yes I told the lady at the till what it was but she didn't believe me and put the book back on the shelf without checking out it's value so the next day I went and brought it

Which is Stephen King writing as Bachman I believe.
